Terms & booking policy

What you're booking

One-to-one online Japanese lessons delivered over video call (Zoom or Google Meet). A link is sent to you after booking. Lessons are tailored to your level and goals, and include notes and homework materials.

• Trial lesson — 60 minutes, $20 USD, one per student.
• 1:1 lesson — 60 minutes, $50 USD.
• 4-lesson pack — 4 × 60 minutes, $180 USD ($45 per lesson).
• Paired lesson — 60 minutes for two students, $90 USD total ($45 each).

All prices are in US dollars (USD). Your bank may add a conversion or international card fee, which is outside my control.

Payment

Once you've booked, I'll send payment details by email, to be settled before your first lesson. Payments are handled securely through Stripe: card details go directly to Stripe and are never handled by this site. Lesson packs may be arranged directly by email if you'd rather talk it through first.

Rescheduling

Life happens, and rescheduling is free — just give me at least 24 hours' notice before the lesson start time, using the link in your booking confirmation or by emailing mainichijp.daily@gmail.com. Inside 24 hours the lesson counts as taught, because the slot can no longer be offered to anyone else.

Cancellations and refunds

• More than 24 hours before the lesson: full refund, or move the lesson to another time — your choice.
• Less than 24 hours before, or not showing up: the lesson is treated as taught and is not refunded. If you're more than 15 minutes late without a message, that counts as a no-show.
• Lesson packs: refundable at any time for the unused lessons, charged at the standard $50 single-lesson rate for the lessons you have already taken. Packs do not expire.
• If I cancel or have to reschedule: you get a full refund or a replacement lesson, whichever you prefer, always.
• Technical problems: if a connection failure at my end cuts a lesson short, we make up the lost time at no charge.

Refunds go back to the original payment method through Stripe, normally within 5–10 working days.

Lesson materials

Worksheets, notes and illustrations shared with you are yours to keep and use for your own study, for as long as you like. Please don't resell them or redistribute them publicly. The site's characters and artwork remain mine.

Being decent to each other

Lessons are a friendly space. I reserve the right to end a lesson and decline future bookings in the case of abusive or discriminatory behaviour; where I do that, any unused lessons are refunded in full.

Limits

I teach as well as I can, but I can't guarantee a particular exam result or level by a particular date — that depends on your own practice too. Nothing in these terms limits liability for anything that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, where the tutor is based. If you are a consumer, this does not remove the protections you have under the law of your own country.
